The principle of using a coalescence plate to remove oil mainly relies on the difference in specific gravity between oil and water, allowing oil droplets to float and collect at the peak of the plate for separation and removal. With the help of the "shallow pool" sedimentation principle, a coalescence plate with variable spacing and variable water flow lines is made, and the water flow section changes. The water flow alternates between diffusion and contraction, producing pulsating (sinusoidal) water flow, increasing the probability of collision between oil droplets, causing small oil droplets to become larger, accelerating the upward velocity of oil droplets, and achieving the purpose of oil-water separation.
The key to the agglomeration plate is the selection of agglomeration materials, and the size of the contact angle formed by oil and water on the surface of the material will directly affect the oil removal effect of the agglomeration corrugated plate. The smaller the contact angle between oil and the surface of the material, the better the oleophilicity of the material, the larger the contact angle between water and the surface of the material, the better the hydrophobicity of the material, and the better the agglomeration effect of the corrugated plate.
